MITCHELL OAKLEY SMITH

I am an internationally recognised creative director, curator, author and communications professional specialising in the luxury, fashion, design and cultural sectors. I boast a strong track record of successful projects spanning festivals, global marketing campaigns, experiential activations, content and events, working both within large-scale teams and independently.

My writing has been published in Architectural Digest, Art & Australia, Art Monthly, Belle, CNN Style, Harper’s Bazaar, GQ, Interview, The Australian, The Local ProjectWish and Vogue Living

I have worked with Melbourne Art Fair, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Sydney Contemporary Art Fair, the Queensland Art Gallery, Art Month Sydney, Mr Porter, the National Gallery of Victoria, the Art Gallery of South Australia, The Future Laboratory, Myer, Westfield, David Jones, Pernod Ricard Winemakers, Hismile, Incu, Audi, Genesis Motors, Squarespace and KPMG. 

I am the author of five Thames & Hudson books on art, fashion and design, and the publisher of four more. I was also the founder, publisher and editor-in-chief of Manuscript magazine, and more recently the editor-in-chief of Esquire Singapore. For five years I was Global Creative Director of The Woolmark Company, and for three years I served as Content & Creative Director at experience design agency Semi Permanent. I’m currently the Curator of Vivid Ideas and Special Events as part of Vivid Sydney, the biggest event in the Southern Hemisphere, and working on a consultancy basis for high-level strategic and creative projects.
